Voters in an unidentified community in the riverside area of Ondo State on Saturday held officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission hostage over malfunctioning card readers.
A report monitored on a radio station in Lagos indicated that the voters were angry that INEC brought faulty card readers to their community and insisted that they would not be allowed to leave unless they replaced the devices.
The reporters said they were almost seized by the villagers, who thought they were also INEC staff. But they managed to escape in their boat after identifying themselves as journalists.
More details later.
