Police Uncover Suspected Kidnappers Den Near Ikeja
There’s pandemonium in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria over the discovery of a suspected kidnappers’ den at Ile-Zik on the busy Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway.
Small crowds milled around both sides of the expressway as police vehicles descended on the area where the bust occurred.
Our source on the ground says security operatives found human parts concealed in some bags in the place after they were alerted by concerned residents who had picked up a strange fellow with clothes, suspected to be a kidnapper.
The area is said to have underground tunnels where kidnappers are believed to hide their suspects and human parts.
According to sources, three suspects were arrested from the scene, including one posing as a madman who had a knife on him. They are presently being interrogated at Isokoko police station, in the Agege neighbourhood.
Lagos has been threatened by the menace of kidnapping in recent times despite the death penalty law being passed for convicted kidnappers.
Earlier this week, two suspected kidnappers were killed by a mob in Ojokoro as residents resorted to mob action to combat the threat. Thanks to the presence of armed personnel, three other suspects were arrested and saved from the jungle justice that would have been their lot.
