Europa League: Rashford Stunning Free-Kick Rescue United (Video)
Marcus Rashford scored a stunning free-kick midway through the second half to put Manchester United on the brink of reaching the Europa League final with a 1-0 win at Celta Vigo on Thursday.
It was Rashford’s 11th goal of the season and gives United a giant leap towards not just the final in Stockholm on May 24, but ticket for next season’s Champions League.
Celta had talked about reprising their role as giant killers ahead of the tie, but they failed to come to the party of their first ever European semifinal at a packed Balaidos.
Daniel Wass sent a header horribly wide after a precise cross from Nemanja Radoja in the 10th minute, but the Red Devils took control from there with goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez producing a string of superb saves to keep the hosts in.

He denied Rashford on 21 minutes with a fingertip save, and was quick off hi line to thwart Henrikh Mkhitaryan after a wonderful run from the returning Paul Pogba.
Celta’s talisman and former Liverpool star Iago Aspas flicked a header just wide after the break, before Sisto saw his deflected shot tipped over the bar by United goalie for the night Sergio Romero.
As the game opened up, Rashford produced a moment of brilliance by winning a free-kick on the edge of the area and picking himself up to curl home a wonderful effort into the far corner.
Aspas fired wide from Jonny’s cross after good build-up from the hosts, but they did little to trouble United who held onto the narrow advantage ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford on May 11.
