Qatar Airways has launched the first-ever double bed within business class.
The Q-Suite allows passengers to recline two middle seats into a fully flat bed and features partition panels to create a private bedroom with two entertainment screens inside.
For around £3,800 for a return flight from London to Doha, fliers can bed down in quilts and cotton sleeper suits from luxury brand, The White Company.
Along with being able to collapse to form a double bed, the new seating arrangement can also be configured into a private space for a family, with four seats within a closed-off pod.
The seat design was unveiled by Qatar Airways CEO, Mr Akbar Al Baker, at the travel trade show ITB Berlin this week.
They revealed it took designers and engineers two years to craft the transformable seats, which are finished with leather and ‘satin rose gold finishing’.
Adjustable panels and movable TV monitors on the centre four seats allows colleagues, friends or families travelling together to transform their space into a private suite, allowing them to work, dine and socialise together.
Commenting on the new onboard facility, Mr Al Baker said: ‘Our unique and patented design is a world first in many ways and challenges industry norms by offering passengers more privacy, more choice and more personalisation.
‘With these innovations, Qatar Airways has revolutionised the way we serve our business class travellers enabling our passengers to enjoy a first class experience in business class.’
