Senator Andy Uba Dumps PDP, Joins APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Andy Uba, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator registered yesterday in his Uga ward in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, in the ongoing APC registration exercise slated to end on Saturday.

The registration by Senator Uba ended speculations on his defection to the APC, a rumour that had been on for many weeks in the state.

The chairman of the five-member APC registration committee in Anambra and former deputy governor of Abia State, Dr. Chris Akomas, described the on-going exercise as successful, adding that Anambra has become an APC state.

The exercise was flagged off on Friday, last week, with the meeting of APC stakeholders at the Olivia Montage Hotel in Awka, which attracted former commissioners, former local government chairmen and chieftains of other political parties who were defecting to the APC.

This was then followed with revalidation of Engineer Bart Nwibe’s membership of the party.

Nwibe was a gubernatorial aspirant and a prominent stakeholder of the APC, who had his membership revalidated at exactly 2.15pm while Andy Uba had his at exactly 4 am.

Others who revalidated their membership of APC in the state were the minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige and APC National Auditor and governorship hopeful, Chief George Muoghalu.

Also in attendance at the exercise were Hon. Tony Nwoye, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chief Barth Nwibe, Dr Obinna Uzor, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah among others.
